Hi! I'm Alicia!
A Massachusetts local. My Grandparents settled in the area in the 50's and my family have been "townies" ever since. I graduated from high school in 2006. I really appreciated my experience through the art programs in my public school as well as the sense of community from a thriving underground music scene. I had some amazing mentors & peers and have been able to pursue a range of creative outlets which truly helped/help me survive some otherwise turbulent youth/times.
I got my first job at the corner store sandwich shop when I was 13. The sense of freedom from earning my own money was liberating. An adoration of vintage and thrifted items were the way I was able to begin having true control over my creative expression and identity. I had a great group of friends that I would treasure hunt with. I have fond memories of our moms dropping us off at the MBTA. We would ride the train into Cambridge to seek out special looks. I began cultivating an eye for style in my early years and worked my way into fashion retail. An employee discount at Delia's was a teenage girls dream come true. My love for vintage/thrifted items and the affordability as well as the environmental responsibility of that process has only grown stronger over the years. The thrill of the hunt, the textures, the colors, the mystery of the history is all super fascinating to me.
After graduating high school, I was given an opportunity to study photography at The Art Institute of Boston. Due to financial reasons and uncertainty in my journey, I stopped attending after freshman year but none the less valued that experience to a great degree.
I spent my early twenties in the Boston area after art school. Working at the record store and the hip alternative clothing store, R.I.P. Hootenanny. Enjoying art from an eclectic mix of talent. Playing rock n' roll shows in basements. Twisting the night away at the old Sixties & Soul clubs. Nomming some of the most delicious vegetarian/vegan food. Definitely golden years spent shaping me into who I am today.

Soon after I chose to narrow down a creative outlet; With cosmetology I could make a good living while helping others feel great about themselves!
In 2011 I started at HC Studio in Brookline Village, working my way through their Apprentice program to become a Color Specialist and a healthy hair guide. I feel eternally grateful for the opportunity to learn from leading artists in the industry in such a beautiful salon. I started the brand Magic & Color as a portfolio space for my work with hair, although the phrase evokes something much more for me.

Over the years the universe has lead me to some pretty amazing people. One of those people is Robin Carter of the Shanti Loft. Receiving Reiki from her for the first time was literally life changing. Although I laid there on her table quietly crying, that release was a huge step for me in my own reckoning. After that experience I was hooked on the peace I felt from a Reiki session. Through Robin's 1:1 training sessions, I was inducted as a Reiki Master in 2018. I'm very grateful for that experience and the calling to bring healing energy to this world.

A wanderer by fate of the stars & an artist at heart. I treasure creative outlets, I believe creating can be an excellent tool in healing. Whether or not you share your creations, I believe it can be vital to living a balanced life. Along with nourishment and gentle movement, we can all lead happier lives.
It is my goal to create a place where I can share tools for enjoyment in our daily lives as I continue to learn. I'm constantly inspired by the folks around me and by the royal court of the cosmos. Actively seeking peace through chaos, Magic & Color is my way of connecting with the silver linings in this world.
This past year has been world altering in so many ways. I took some time to cocoon and reflect. During this time I have pivoted my attention to focus more on learning, healing, creating and fortifying healthy systems in my life. This much needed meditation has given me the time to work on my brand Magic & Color. While expanding what that name has been to me beyond the styling of beautiful hair. It was my goal at the start of 2020 to expand my offerings with the hope and intention of launching a retail/events project. Although the time line for the physical space remains unknown, I invite you to experience my corner of the internet in the mean time.

thank you
so much for stopping by to check it out.
